Paid features on Bu. should be simple. Here is how they work.
Bu. is free to join. You can create an account, build closets, browse the discovery feed, follow creators, and save looks without paying anything.
Two things on Bu. are paid: Stars, which power AI outfit generation and Bu Shop purchases, and Bu. Plus, a monthly subscription that unlocks additional features.
This page explains how both work, how billing is handled, and what happens if something does not go the way you expected.
All current pricing is shown in the app at the point of purchase. We do not hardcode prices into this document because prices may change over time, and we want you to always see the most up-to-date information before you buy.
Stars
Stars are Bu.'s digital currency. You buy them once and spend them on things inside the app.
What Stars are used for: AI outfit generation. Each generation costs 150 Stars. Bu Shop items including wallpapers, closet covers, profile frames, and stickers are also purchased with Stars.
How you get Stars: Stars are purchased in packs through the App Store. Current pack sizes and prices are shown in the app at the time of purchase.
Important things to know about Stars:
New accounts do not include a starting Star balance. Bu. is free to join and free to use socially, but AI generation requires Stars from the outset.
Stars do not expire. Once purchased, they stay in your account until you spend them.
Stars have no monetary value. They cannot be transferred between accounts, resold, exchanged, or redeemed for cash. They exist solely to be spent within Bu.
Star purchases are one-time. There is no recurring billing, no automatic renewal, and no ongoing commitment. You will not be billed again unless you choose to buy another pack.
AI generation costs
Every AI outfit generation costs 150 Stars. This includes regenerating from an image you have already uploaded.
This cost applies to everyone. Bu. Plus subscribers pay the same 150 Stars per generation as everyone else. Bu. Plus does not include Stars, free generations, or a discount on generation costs.
There is no daily free generation allowance.
We know that is a clear position, so we want to be direct about why. AI generation has a real cost every time it runs. Charging for it in Stars means we can keep Bu. free to join and use socially, avoid advertising, and avoid selling user data. You only pay for the part that actually costs us money to provide.
Bu. Plus
Bu. Plus is a monthly subscription. The current price is shown in the app before you purchase. Subscription pricing may vary by App Store country or region.
What Bu. Plus includes:
Unlimited closets. Free accounts can create up to four closets. Plus removes that limit entirely.
Plus cosmetics. Access to purchase eligible Plus-exclusive Bu Shop items. These items are still purchased with Stars.
Custom wallpapers. Use your own images from your camera roll as profile wallpaper.
Birthday celebration. On your birthday, a birthday celebration indicator may appear on your profile for other users to see. Your date of birth, birth year, and age are not displayed.
What Bu. Plus does not include:
Bu. Plus does not include Stars. It does not include free AI generations. It does not reduce the Star cost of generating an outfit.
Stars and Bu. Plus are separate products. You can subscribe to Plus without ever buying Stars, and you can buy Stars without ever subscribing to Plus.
Current Plus features are shown in the app and may evolve over time.
Bu Shop
Bu Shop sells digital cosmetic items you can use to personalise your Bu. profile and closets.
Shop items include wallpapers, closet covers, profile frames, and stickers. All Bu Shop items are created by Bu. They are digital customisation items that exist within the app.
How Bu Shop works:
Shop items are purchased with Stars.
Once purchased, the item remains associated with your account and does not expire because you cancel Bu. Plus.
Some Shop items are only available to Plus subscribers to purchase. If you buy a Plus-exclusive item while subscribed and later cancel, you keep the item you bought. Your access to purchase other Plus-exclusive items ends when your subscription ends.
Bu Shop items are licensed for use within Bu. They cannot be extracted, redistributed, resold, or used outside the platform.
Closets
Free accounts can create up to four closets. Bu. Plus subscribers have unlimited closets.
If your Plus subscription ends:
Your existing closets are not deleted. Everything you have built stays in your account and remains accessible.
However, if you have more than four closets when your subscription ends, you will not be able to create new closets until you are back within the free limit of four.
Nothing is lost. You simply cannot add more until you are within your plan's limit.
How billing works
Bu. Plus subscriptions and Star purchases are made through the Apple App Store. Bu. does not process payments directly.
When you subscribe or buy Stars, the transaction is handled by Apple under their billing terms. The billing frequency for subscriptions is shown clearly at the point of purchase.
Because payments are processed by Apple, your billing relationship for these charges is with Apple, not directly with Bu.
Where there is any conflict between these Terms and Apple's billing or cancellation terms, Apple's terms take precedence in relation to billing and payment matters.
Auto-renewal
Bu. Plus renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Renewal is handled by your App Store account. The charge is applied to the payment method associated with that account.
You can view your next renewal date and manage your subscription through your Apple account settings at any time. Bu. does not have the ability to cancel your subscription on your behalf. Cancellation must be done through the App Store.
Star purchases are one-time and do not renew.
Cancelling Bu. Plus
You can cancel Bu. Plus at any time through your App Store account settings.
Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not immediately end your current subscription period. You keep access to Plus features until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
After that period ends, your account moves to the free experience.
What happens to your content: Your closets are not deleted. If you have more than four, you keep them but cannot create new ones until you are back within the limit.
What happens to Shop items you bought: Items you purchased with Stars remain associated with your account, including Plus-exclusive items you bought while subscribed. Cancelling Plus does not remove them.
What happens to Plus-only features: Custom camera-roll wallpapers, the birthday celebration, and the ability to purchase Plus-exclusive Shop items are Plus features. These become unavailable when your subscription ends and return if you resubscribe.

Refunds
Because payments are processed by the Apple App Store, refund requests are handled by Apple, not by Bu. directly.
Refund eligibility is determined by Apple's applicable refund policies and by consumer law in your country. Bu. does not control App Store refund decisions.
If Apple issues a refund for a Star purchase, Bu. may remove or adjust the corresponding Stars from your balance.

Price changes
The prices of Bu. Plus and Star packs may change in the future.
Where price changes affect existing subscribers, Bu. will provide notice in advance in line with applicable requirements. You will have the opportunity to cancel your subscription before any new pricing takes effect on your account.
Current pricing is always shown in the app at the point of purchase. We do not change prices silently.
Changes to features
Bu. is a growing platform. Features may be added, improved, modified, or retired over time as the product develops.
We will aim to communicate meaningful changes to paid features in advance. If a change significantly affects what you receive as part of a subscription, we will let you know.
The general nature and value of Bu. Plus will be maintained. We will not make substantive changes to what a paid plan offers without communicating this clearly.
Fair use
Stars, subscriptions, and Shop items are for personal use only.
Stars cannot be transferred, resold, or redeemed. Stars cannot be moved between accounts, sold, exchanged, or redeemed for cash. They have no monetary value outside of Bu.
Subscriptions cannot be shared. A Bu. Plus subscription is tied to a single account. Allowing multiple people to access and use a single subscription account is not permitted.
Shop items cannot be extracted or redistributed. Digital items purchased in Bu Shop are licensed for use within Bu. only.
Star systems must not be manipulated. Attempting to exploit bugs, workarounds, or any other mechanism to obtain Stars outside of normal purchase is not permitted and may result in account restrictions or removal.
These rules exist to keep the platform fair for everyone. The vast majority of users will never need to think about them.

Bu.'s goal with paid features is straightforward: charge honestly for the things that cost money to provide, keep the core Bu. experience free, and never make you feel like the product is working against you.
Stars pay for AI generation because AI generation has a real cost. Bu. Plus adds features for people who want more from their profile. Bu Shop gives you ways to make your space feel like yours.
That is the whole model. No advertising. No selling your data. No affiliate links. No hidden charges.
