About Bu.
Bu. is a fashion identity app for Gen Z and older Gen Alpha users aged 13 and over. Users upload a clothing item they own, love, or are curious about, choose an aesthetic direction, and Bu.'s AI generates a complete outfit concept around it.
The core idea is simple: most fashion apps are built around shopping. Bu. is built around identity.
Bu. does not sell real-world fashion products, link users to retailers, or earn affiliate commission on purchases. Generated outfits are creative concepts, not shopping suggestions. The platform exists for style discovery and self-expression, not real-world retail shopping.
Bu. is designed for users aged 13 and over. Parents and guardians can also use Bu.'s website resources to understand how the platform works and how younger users are protected.

The founder story
Bu. was created by Zayn, a young creator who has always been drawn to fashion and self-expression. Not trends or labels, but aesthetics. The way certain pieces and colours and silhouettes come together to say something specific about who you are.
Zayn wanted a way to experiment with outfits and explore different looks without having to buy everything first. He wanted a space to figure out his style visually, creatively, without the pressure of social media or the endless scroll of shopping platforms telling him what he should want.
He looked for that tool and could not find it. So he started building Bu. Learn more about Zayn and the story behind Bu. on our About Bu. page.
Bu. is being built with the support of Zayn's family and a growing team of people who believe in the mission. The founding story is not a tech pivot or a market opportunity identified in a spreadsheet. It is a genuine answer to a problem that Zayn experienced personally.
That matters, because it shapes what Bu. is. The platform is designed from the inside out, built for the experience of wanting to discover your style rather than being sold one.
What makes Bu. different
The fashion app space is crowded. But most of what is in it falls into a few familiar categories: digital wardrobes, shopping aggregators, trend feeds, or OOTD social platforms.
Bu. is none of those things.
Identity over retail shopping. Bu. is built around self-expression rather than pushing users toward fashion purchases. Style discovery is the product, not a route to a retailer.
Creativity over trends. Bu. does not tell users what is popular right now. It gives them tools to explore what feels like them, regardless of what is trending.
No messaging, no comments. Bu. does not have direct messaging, comment sections, group chats, or livestreaming. These were deliberate design choices. They reduce the conditions for social pressure, unwanted contact, and the comparison-driven anxiety that other platforms can create, particularly for younger users.
AI as a creative tool. Bu.'s AI generates outfit concepts rather than product recommendations. The output is a creative starting point for the user's own style exploration, not a route to a retailer.
Community through inspiration, not performance. Bu.'s discovery feed exists so users can share creative content and inspire each other. It is designed to feel like browsing a mood board, not performing for an audience.
Why journalists are interested in Bu.
Young founder.
Bu. was started by Zayn after struggling to find a creative way to explore personal style. The founding story is genuine, personal, and specific.
AI and identity.
Bu. sits at the intersection of AI, fashion, creativity, and self-expression. It is one of a growing number of consumer AI products exploring identity, creativity, and self-expression rather than productivity alone.
Safety by design.
Unlike many social platforms, Bu. is designed without messaging, comments, group chats, or livestreaming. These were structural decisions made before launch, not features removed later.
A different business model.
Bu.'s business model is based on Stars and subscriptions rather than advertising or data monetisation. In a space where most platforms monetise attention, Bu. charges for the AI generation that actually costs money to run and keeps the rest of the platform free to join and use.

The story we are trying to tell
Bu. exists because fashion is not really about clothes. It is about identity. It is about the way people use what they wear to figure out who they are, to communicate something about themselves before they have the words for it, and to feel at home in their own presence.
That is the story we are building toward. We are early in it. If you want to be part of telling it, we would love to hear from you.
