This is your space. Keep it creative.
Bu. exists for one reason: to help you discover, build, and express your style identity. Every person on Bu. is here to create, not to judge, copy, or cause harm.
These guidelines exist to keep Bu. feeling like the creative community it's supposed to be. We've written them in plain English because legalese doesn't belong in a fashion app.
If something isn't covered here, ask yourself: does this make Bu. better or worse for the people using it? That's the standard.
What Bu. is here for
We want to see:
Your real style. Outfits you actually wear, aesthetics you're genuinely exploring, looks that feel like you, even if you're still figuring out what that means.
Creative experimentation. Mix aesthetics. Break rules. Post the outfit that doesn't fit neatly into a category. Bu. doesn't have a dress code.
Originality. Your collages, your combinations, your creative direction. The more personal, the better.
Aesthetic diversity. Streetwear, Old Money, Y2K, Coquette, Gorpcore, Afrocentric, Alternative, Vintage, every aesthetic has a place here. No style is more valid than another.
Genuine self-expression. Bu. is not about getting the most saves or looking the most polished. It's about finding and sharing what actually feels like you.
Content that isn't allowed
Nothing harmful or hateful
Bu. is a fashion platform, not a place for hate. Content that targets people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, body size, age, or any other characteristic is not allowed, ever.
Content designed to spread hate or exclusion isn't welcome on Bu., regardless of how it's presented.
No nudity or sexual content
Bu. is used by young people. Keep all content appropriate for a general audience. This means no nudity, no sexual content, and nothing that sexualises any person, including the account holder.
Artistic fashion content, editorial-style imagery, and expressive outfits are absolutely fine. The line is nudity and sexualisation, not creativity.
Nothing that targets or endangers anyone
Bu. does not have direct messaging, but public content can still be used to target individuals. Do not post content that is designed to humiliate, intimidate, or harm a specific person. Do not use outfit posts, closets, or style labels to mock or attack someone.
No content involving minors in inappropriate contexts
Any content that sexualises or endangers minors will be removed. Where required by law, child sexual exploitation and abuse content is reported to the appropriate authority or designated reporting body. This is a hard line.
No content promoting self-harm or dangerous behaviour
Do not post content that encourages, promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, dangerous challenges, or the harmful misuse of substances. Supportive discussion that does not encourage harmful behaviour may be treated differently, but content that promotes or instructs harm is not allowed.
No graphic or violent content
Bu. is a creative space. Graphic violence, gore, or disturbing imagery has no place here regardless of how it's framed.
Nothing illegal
Do not post content that promotes, facilitates, or glorifies illegal activity. This includes content that promotes the sale of counterfeit goods, illegal substances, or anything else that would cause harm to others.
Fashion and self-expression on Bu.
Style is personal. Bu. is deliberately built around the idea that there is no wrong aesthetic, but there are wrong uses of aesthetics.
Body diversity is celebrated here. Bu.'s flat-lay format means outfits, not bodies, are the focus. Any content that uses style as a vehicle to mock, exclude, or demean people based on their body is not welcome.
Cultural aesthetics deserve respect. When you engage with aesthetics that are rooted in specific cultural traditions, Afrocentric fashion, traditional dress, cultural styling, approach them with genuine appreciation, not costume mentality. Appreciation and appropriation are different things, and context matters.
Style exploration is encouraged. You don't have to have your aesthetic figured out. Bu. is for the process of discovering who you are through what you wear. Post the experimental looks. Post the ones that don't quite work. That's the point.
AI-generated outfits
AI generation is a core part of the Bu. experience. Generating an outfit costs Stars. The outfits Bu. creates are meant to inspire, explore, and help you express your style identity.
Use generated content for creativity and self-expression. Do not attempt to use Bu.'s generation tools to produce harmful, misleading, illegal, or infringing content. The AI is designed to generate generic fashion, not branded products, logos, or trademarked designs, and should be used in that spirit.
Respecting other creators
Bu. is built on creative output. Other people's creative work, their collages, their combinations, their aesthetic direction, deserves to be treated as theirs.
Do not repost or copy another user's outfit collage and present it as your own. If you're inspired by someone's look, create your own version. Inspiration is not the same as copying.
Credit and permission are not the same thing. If you have permission to share another creator's work outside Bu., credit them clearly. Giving credit does not replace permission where permission is required.
Engagement should be genuine. Authentic interaction only, more on that below.
Fake engagement
Bu.'s discovery feed works best when engagement is real. Do not create multiple accounts to artificially boost saves, follows, or outfit popularity. Do not use any tool, script, or workaround designed to make your content perform better than it genuinely does, or to obtain Stars or Bu Shop items outside of normal purchase.
Artificially boosting engagement undermines the experience for everyone and makes discovery less meaningful.
Intellectual property
When you upload content to Bu., you are responsible for making sure your use of that content is permitted by law and by these Guidelines. Users are responsible for the content they upload, generate, save, and share through Bu.
Your own clothing and products: Uploading photos of items you own, wear, or are considering buying is completely fine. Bu. is built for exactly this.
Screenshots and product images: Product screenshots may be uploaded as styling references where you are permitted to use them. The underlying image remains the property of its rights holder. Do not present a retailer's or creator's image as your own work. The AI uses these as styling inspiration and is designed not to reproduce the original image.
Other people's photos or designs: Do not upload another person's photographs, artwork, illustrations, or designs unless you have permission or another lawful basis to use them. Do not present somebody else's creative work as your own.
Brand logos and trademarks: Bu.'s AI is designed to generate generic fashion items, not brand-specific products. Do not attempt to prompt the AI to generate content that deliberately replicates branded designs, logos, or trademarked imagery.
Bu Shop items: Wallpapers, closet covers, profile frames, stickers, and other items in Bu Shop are created by Bu. and remain Bu.'s intellectual property. Buying an item gives you a personal licence to use it within Bu. Do not extract, copy, redistribute, resell, or use Bu Shop items outside the platform.
If you believe content on Bu. infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at ip@buapp.info and we will investigate and respond appropriately.
Honest content
Do not misrepresent content as something it is not. If an outfit was AI-generated, do not present it as a real look you put together yourself. If a product does not exist, do not present it as something you own or have worn. Bu. is built around genuine self-expression, and that means being honest about what you are sharing.
Impersonation
Be yourself. Pretending to be another person, whether that's a public figure, a celebrity, another Bu. user, or a Bu. team member, is not allowed.
This includes creating accounts with names, profile images, or content designed to mislead others about who you are.
Spam and inauthenticity
Bu. is a creative community, not a marketing channel.
Do not use automated tools to follow, save, or interact with content. Do not post promotional content for external products, services, or platforms disguised as style content. This includes bot accounts, brand accounts using Bu. as a free marketing channel, and any account posting outfit content primarily to drive traffic elsewhere.
If you're a creator or brand interested in working with Bu., get in touch at contact@buapp.info. There are legitimate ways to be part of the community, spam isn't one of them.
Keeping Bu. safe
Bu. is for users aged 13 and over. Accounts identified as belonging to users under 13 may be removed. Bu. is designed for young people, and every person using Bu. has a responsibility to help keep it a safe creative space.
If you are under 13: Bu. is not designed for you, and you should not be using it. We take this seriously, and accounts that appear to belong to children under 13 may be removed.
If you are a parent or guardian: Our Parental Guide explains how Bu. works, what we collect, and how to request account deletion for a minor. You can find it in our footer.
If you see something that concerns you: Report it. Bu.'s reporting process exists so that the community can help maintain the space. You don't need to be certain something is wrong to report it, if something feels off, flag it and let us review it.
Keep your account secure: Bu. uses Apple Sign In and Google Sign In, so your login is managed through your Apple or Google account. Keep that account secure and do not let anyone else use your Bu. account. If you think someone has accessed your account without your permission, contact support@buapp.info as soon as possible.
Consequences for violations
Bu. is not looking for reasons to remove people from the community. But we will act when we need to.
Depending on the severity and frequency of a violation, we may:
- Remove the specific content
- Issue a warning to the account
- Temporarily restrict account features
- Permanently remove the account
Severe violations, including content involving minors, hate speech, threats, or illegal activity, may result in immediate permanent removal without prior warning. Some violations may also be reported to law enforcement or relevant authorities where required or appropriate. If you believe a decision was made in error, you can request a review through our Moderation Appeals page.
How To Report Content
If you see something on Bu. that feels harmful, inappropriate, unsafe, or appears to violate our Community Guidelines, you can report it.
You do not need to be certain that a rule has been broken. If something does not feel right, report it and let us make that assessment.
In the app
Every public outfit and profile on Bu. has a report button. Tap the report button, choose the reason that best fits, and submit your report.
You do not need to write a detailed explanation. A clear category report is enough for us to begin a review.
What happens after you report something
Your report is assessed against our Community Guidelines and the context in which the content was shared. Bu. uses a combination of automated moderation systems and review by our team.
Depending on what the review finds, no action may be needed, or Bu. may remove content, issue a warning, restrict account features, or remove an account. Serious child-safety or illegal-content concerns may also be referred or reported to the appropriate authorities where required or appropriate.
We aim to review reports as quickly as we are able to. Urgent safety concerns are prioritised.
We will not always be able to tell you the specific outcome of a report.
Urgent safety concerns
If your concern involves a child, immediate harm, or another urgent safety issue, email support@buapp.info and mark your message as urgent.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or relevant child-protection authority first. Bu. cannot replace emergency services.
Copyright or intellectual-property concerns
For copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property concerns, email ip@buapp.info.
For more information about what is and is not allowed on Bu., please read our Community Guidelines and Child Safety Policy.
These guidelines will evolve
Bu. will continue to evolve. These guidelines may be updated as we learn what the community needs.
When we make significant changes, we'll let you know. The date at the top of this page always reflects when it was last updated.
The short version
That's Bu.
