Privacy matters to us. Here is exactly how we handle yours.
This page explains what information Bu. collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
We have written it in plain English because privacy information should be easy to understand. If something on this page is unclear, or if you have a question we have not answered, you can always reach us at contact@buapp.info.
Bu. is operated by Neriyas LTD, which is the data controller responsible for personal information collected through Bu. If you have a privacy question or want to exercise your rights, you can contact us at contact@buapp.info.
What information we collect
Account information
When you create a Bu. account, we collect:
Username. The name you choose to represent yourself on Bu.

Email address. Provided by your Apple or Google sign-in and stored as part of your account authentication. Used to manage your account and to communicate with you about the service.
Profile picture. The image you choose to represent your account, if you add one.
Date of birth. Used to verify that you meet Bu.'s minimum age requirement and to ensure age-appropriate experiences on the platform.
Content you create
Bu. stores the creative content you produce on the platform:
Uploaded images. Photos of clothing, product screenshots, and inspiration images you upload to use as styling references.
Generated outfits. Outfit collages created using Bu.'s AI tools.
Closets. Collections you create to organise and save your looks.
Saved outfits. Looks you have saved from the discovery feed.

How you use Bu.
We collect information about how you interact with the platform:
App activity. Which features you use and how often you generate outfits.
Generation usage. How many generations you run and when, which helps us manage platform capacity and your Star balance.
Subscription and purchase information. Whether you have an active Bu. Plus subscription, your Star balance, your Star and Bu Shop purchase history, and any Shop items associated with your account.
Follows and follow requests. Who you follow and who follows you.
Likes, saves, views, and reactions. The outfits you like, save, view, or react to, and any outfits you mark as worn, which help us show you relevant content.
Blocked users. A record of any accounts you have blocked, so we can apply your preference.
Notifications. Notifications generated for you within the app.
Reports and moderation records. Reports you submit or that are made about your content, and records of any moderation decisions or safety actions relating to your account.
Technical information
Bu.'s infrastructure and service providers generate limited technical information as part of operating the service:
Device and app information. Basic information about the device and app version you are using, where this is needed to deliver and support the service.
Service logs. Our infrastructure providers generate standard service and security logs, which may include IP address, as part of operating and protecting the platform.
Why we collect this information
Everything we collect has a purpose. Here is what we use it for:
Providing the service. Your account information, uploaded images, and usage data are what make Bu. work. Without them, we cannot generate outfits, display your profile, or save your creative content.
Generating outfits. When you upload an image, Bu. uses it to produce a generated outfit. That is the core function of the platform.
Displaying public content. If you post to the discovery feed, your outfit and username are displayed to other Bu. users. This is what makes the community work.
Improving reliability. Technical and service information helps us identify and fix problems so Bu. works the way it should.
Preventing abuse. Account information and usage patterns help us identify and act on behaviour that violates our Community Guidelines.
Customer support. When you contact us, we use your account information and the details you provide to help resolve your issue.
Subscription management. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. Bu. uses purchase and subscription information to manage your entitlements, credit your Star balance, and ensure you have access to the paid features and Shop items you have purchased.
Our lawful basis for processing
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, Bu. relies on the following lawful bases to process your personal information:
Contract performance. We process your account information, uploaded content, and usage data because it is necessary to provide the Bu. service you have signed up for. Without this processing, we cannot deliver the platform.
Legitimate interests. We process certain data, such as technical and service information and usage patterns, on the basis of our legitimate interests in keeping the platform secure, preventing abuse, and improving the service. We only do this where our interests are not overridden by your rights.
Legal obligation. In some cases we may be required to process or retain data to comply with a legal obligation, such as responding to a lawful request from a regulatory or law enforcement authority.
Consent. Where we rely on your consent, such as for optional cookies or any future use of your data for AI training, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Public and private content
Not everything on Bu. is visible to other users. Here is how it works.
Private content is visible only to you. This includes outfits you have saved but not posted publicly, closets you have not shared, and any content you keep within your personal profile without posting to the discovery feed.
Public content is visible to other Bu. users. This includes outfits you post to the discovery feed and your public profile, including your display name, username, and profile picture.
What other users can see on your public profile: your display name, your username, your profile picture if you have set one, and the outfits you have chosen to post publicly. Your date of birth is not displayed.
What other users cannot do: Bu. does not have direct messaging, private messaging, group chats, or comments. Other users cannot contact you directly, leave messages on your content, or communicate with you privately through Bu.
Sharing to the discovery feed is always your choice. Nothing is posted publicly without you actively choosing to share it.
AI and your uploads
When you upload an image to Bu., it is used to provide and safeguard the features you choose to use, including moderation, visual analysis, and AI outfit generation.
Bu. does not currently use uploaded images to train AI models.
Your uploads are not fed into AI training pipelines. We do not use your creative content to train or improve Bu.'s AI systems without your knowledge.
If this ever changes, we will tell you clearly before it happens. We will explain what is changing and why, and we will ask for your consent separately. This is not the kind of thing we would bury in a policy update.
For a full explanation of how Bu.'s AI works, visit our AI Disclosure page.
Young users and children's privacy
Bu. is designed for users aged 13 and over. Users under 13 are not permitted to create accounts.
We take the privacy of young users seriously. Here is what that means in practice.
We do not use the data of users under 18 for behavioural advertising. We do not build advertising profiles on young users or use their data to target them commercially.
We do not sell children's data. We do not sell any user's personal data, and we apply that principle with particular care to users who are under 18.
Date of birth information is collected at signup to verify that users meet our minimum age requirement. Your date of birth is private and is not displayed on your profile. If you subscribe to Bu. Plus, Bu. uses your date of birth internally to determine when to display a birthday celebration indicator on your profile. That indicator may be visible to other users on your birthday. Your full date of birth, your birth year, and your age are never displayed. If we identify an account belonging to a user under 13, that account may be removed and the associated data deleted.
Content is private unless you choose otherwise. Generated and saved outfits are private to your account unless you actively choose to post them to the discovery feed. Your date of birth is never displayed. Bu. does not provide direct messaging, comments, group chats, voice chat, or livestreaming, so other users cannot contact you privately through the app.
For more detail on how Bu. protects young people, visit our Child Safety Policy.
Who we share information with
Bu. does not sell your personal data. Bu. does not sell children's data. That is not how we operate and not something we intend to change.
We do work with a small number of trusted third-party providers to deliver the service. These are companies that handle specific technical functions on our behalf:
Supabase. Provides Bu.'s authentication, database, and storage infrastructure. Your account information and content are stored using their services.
Apple. Provides Sign in with Apple and processes App Store purchases and subscriptions, including Stars and Bu. Plus. We do not handle payment card information directly.
Subscription and purchase services. We use service providers to help manage in-app purchases, subscription status and access to paid features. These providers may process an internal account identifier and purchase or subscription information needed to provide those services. Payment details are handled by the relevant app store; Bu. does not receive your full payment card details.
Google. Provides Google Sign-In, which you can use to create and access your Bu. account.
OpenAI. Provides content moderation and AI styling and visual analysis. Uploaded images may be processed through OpenAI to support these functions.
fal.ai. Provides the AI image generation that produces your outfit collages. Uploaded images and generation requests are processed through fal.ai to create your generated outfits.
These providers process information under their applicable agreements and privacy obligations, and where appropriate under Bu.'s instructions, in order to provide their services to Bu.
We do not share your personal information with brands, advertisers, or third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide the service to you, and where necessary for security, abuse prevention, or to meet legal obligations.
While your account is active, we retain your account information, uploaded content, generated outfits, and usage data to provide the service.
When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your content, and the personal information associated with your account. Limited moderation and safety records may be retained in anonymised form where appropriate, with identifying details such as usernames and account identifiers removed. We do not retain your data beyond what is necessary for these purposes.
Uploaded images are retained while they are associated with your generated outfits, saved content, or account. They are deleted when the relevant content or account is deleted, subject to limited retention for security, legal, or abuse-prevention purposes.
If you have a specific question about how long we hold a particular type of information, you can ask us at contact@buapp.info.
How we protect your information
Bu. takes reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
We are honest about the limits of this. No online service can guarantee complete security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at support@buapp.info as soon as possible.
Your rights
You have rights over your personal information. Here is what they are in plain English.
The right to access. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you.
The right to correct. You can ask us to correct information about you that is inaccurate.
The right to delete. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal information associated with it.
The right to data portability. In some cases, you can ask us to provide your data in a format you can take elsewhere.
The right to object or restrict processing. In some cases, you can ask us to limit or stop processing your information.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know what personal information has been collected, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (Bu. does not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
UK and EU users have rights under UK GDPR and EU GDPR respectively, including all of the rights listed above and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. In the EU, it is the relevant data protection authority in your country.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@buapp.info. We aim to respond within applicable legal timeframes and will not make exercising your rights difficult.
International users
Bu. is based in the United Kingdom. If you are using Bu. from the European Union, the United States, or elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the UK and the countries where our hosting and infrastructure providers operate.
We take steps to ensure that any international transfers of personal data are handled with appropriate care and in line with applicable law. Where required, we rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authority, or adequacy decisions made by the UK or EU, as applicable.
Cookies and similar technologies
Bu. uses essential session and local storage technologies to keep you signed in, keep your account secure, and remember your preferences within the app.
Our Cookie Policy provides a full explanation of the cookies used on the Bu. website, why they are used, and how you can manage your preferences. You can withdraw or adjust your cookie consent at any time through your browser or device settings. You can find our Cookie Policy in our website footer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes that meaningfully affect how we handle your personal information, we will let you know before those changes take effect.
The date at the top of this page always reflects when the policy was last updated. Continuing to use Bu. after an updated policy has been published means you are accepting the updated terms.

Bu. is a space for creativity, identity, and self-expression. That only works if the people using it can trust that their information is being handled with care, their creative output belongs to them, and the platform is being built with their interests in mind.
That is the standard we hold ourselves to. This policy is how we make that standard visible.
